Cecil has unfortunately lost much of its old-world charm to a series of renovations, which have stripped away period fittings and marble and left the rooms with little character. Public areas ( the lobby and the Monty bar upstairs ) still have original wood paneling, and the elevators and staircase are gleaming originals, too.
