  • Get on cramped up buses, it's anything but comfortable.

  • Wear swimming suites on beaches.
  • Drink and drive, driving in Egypt is already hard enough.
  • Wear sunscreen at all times when swimming, the Egyptian sun can be merciless at times.
  • Drink and dive, many diving accidents occur because the divers had a "little to drink".
Snorkeling and diving
  • Wear sun-screen lotion.
  • Drink openly in the streets, always do it in a designated place such as a bar, disco, or your own place.
  • Stay with your guide, it's not fun getting lost underwater.
  • Drink tap water, even though it is clean and all Egyptians are used to it you will take a few days of stomach aches to get aquatinted. Mineral water is available everywhere.

  • Exchange your money in banks or exchange offices.
  • Smoke, drink or eat in public during the month of Ramadan, during day-time.

  • Carry around a lot of change, it can be useful when tipping and bargaining. Only tip when you feel that the person deserves it.
  • Eat from any strange or obscure car in the street, not all of them have "healthy" food.
  • Get your travelers cheques as well as credit cards, they are accepted in most of the tourist industry. Visa, Amex, you name it.
  • Swim where there's a black flag up, it means the water is too rough.

  • Your best to avoid bureaucracy, you'll be filling forms for the rest of your stay.
  • Sunbathe topless, it is not common in Egypt and it may cause too much attention.
  • Be sensitive about what you say concerning politics, religion and sex.
