Fayoum oasis is a basin in the desert of Located 130 km southwest of Cairo; gets most of its water supply from the Nile River and it is home to more than two million Egyptians. The depression region has artesian wells, depends on water obtained from springs, and from irrigation canals.The province is noted for its figs and grapes of exceptional quality.
Olives are also cultivated. Rose trees are very numerous, Fayoum also possesses an excellent breed of sheep.
